Look Into You

Not sure why I’m surprised anymore when every couple of years a growth spurt comes along.

Everywhere I’ve turned these past few months several of the signs have been pretty blatant – repeated themes, pokes to pay attention, constant questioning.

Among the latest were two gentlemen appearing at my door one Saturday morning.

They asked what I thought of all the recent events –

Airplanes being hijacked and shot down.

Russia and the Ukraine in conflict.

Israel and Hamas exchanging missiles.

School girls being kidnapped by extremists.

In a nice way they were asking if I thought the world was going to hell in handbag or if there really could be a bright future.

How can you not smile recognizing said theme popping up once again.

My reply took them by surprise.

Look Deeper Into You

What happens with the world will be directed by who we decide we are, both individually and collectively.

These are all opportunities to bring deeper levels of awareness to events and decide more consciously –

who we are,

what we believe,

how we’ll show up,

when we’ll speak up, and

where we’ll take a stand.

By being who we really are and deciding to act accordingly, we are the ones who will ultimately determine what happens to ourselves, each other and the planet.

Sounds rather ominous and far too heavy a weight for one person to shoulder.

Because it is.

That’s the point.

We’re not supposed to save the world, or even our world, all by ourselves.

But we do need to show up as our best selves, find each other and start figuring out new ways forward together.

Notice I didn’t say say we need to find each other first and then show up.

We’re all leaders.

Sometimes we’ll feel like we’re showing up alone,

nothing is different, and

the same old crazy things keep happening.

Look closer.

You make a difference by showing up as full of your true self as you can be right now.

Somebody needs to go first and Light the way so others can see.

That’s you.

And me.

Until we make ourselves visible, we all remain hidden.

We have to show up, even when we think nobody else is, to see who’s there.

(How many times have you heard someone speak up about something and others chime in with “me too!”)

You know where where you’re supposed to start.

Something has been bugging you.

Begin there.

Doesn’t even need to make sense or fit perfectly into your passion or plan – yet.

Change happens with being different.

As an example, right now the step for me has been poking in the side.

To feel in alignment, the time has come to break away from popular advice around marketing, and creating perfect business systems.

The more I think about, or try following that path, the more physically sick I feel.

Another sign.

I’m tired of the games.

I want to, I need to hold a higher vision of people that they see through the games and are looking for another way too.

How else are we going to get somewhere else other same-old, same-old.

I’ll explain further shortly in another post.

What’s of most importance is for you to be you.

Use every opportunity as a way to learn more about yourself and know –

who you are,

what you believe,

how you’ll show up,

when you’ll speak up, and

where you’ll take a stand.

Don’t turn away.

Turn towards and look.

Many an answer and surprise is waiting to behold.

I have recently heard a talk on how we’re all parts of the puzzle and it is only when we come together that the full picture and greatness will be realized. Your post reminds me of this, but I particularly love the fact that you emphasize that we all need to show up as our best self first. Thank you for this timely reminder about doing that and having the courage and boldness to speak up and act in ways that feel true to our soul.

Thanks Julia. We truly do need to show up in order to see each other and add our piece. The cool thing is the puzzle evolves with the richness of collaboration into something we can all be surprised by and encouraged to reach for more.

As I read this post I could feel myself nodding and smiling. This is such a wonderful expression of the energy shifts that I’m feeling right now. Yes there is change happening, and it can feel uncomfortable but even one little step forward into the unknown, showing up as our true selves is a bigger step than we could ever imagine. I’m smiling again as you mentioned the pokes.. This post is a poke for me, thanks for writing this Lorrraine, fabulous as always x

Hope the pokes have kept at you Heather and you’re closer to what beyond imagination holds for you! Keep smiling and showing up as your most brilliant you.

Yes, Lorraine. This is spot on. World peace is, truly, individual peace within each individual mind. It is not our need for conformity we must fix, but our understanding of our true nature. We are already interconnected. We already belong. If we can experience that, in each moment, we can allow ourselves to be human – all of us – and to create a world based on that. Thank you so much for this.

    • Lorraine on August 29, 2014 at 10:21 pm

Understanding we’re already interconnected and belong leaves a big question of ‘well, now what?’ We can so easily stay focused on the same old question and forget the power of what new questions open for us. The world we seek is ours for the making. Great addition to the conversation Vironika.
