It’s Heart, Not Mind Over Matter

Sketch of Lorraine surrounded by cats with heart poking at herBack in late November (2017), a story about the workforce in 2030 quietly made the news and disappeared.

The more I thought about it, the more gobsmacked I became.

People weren’t getting the changes coming.

Much like climate change.

[ALERT: This is an emergency broadcast of the H.E.A.R.T. Network to make Lorraine PAY ATTENTION]

Gaaaa … alright already. You win.

Damn it.

Here we are.

The 9th 10th of January and I’m hearing “where has the time gone?” uttered from my lips.

Mind has scoped out the month and confirms the time between now and then will move faster than a speeding bullet.

Heart says, “whoa there, hold up a minute.”

Technically speaking, Heart is a tad more vocal than that.

It’s poking me in the side,

and the butt,

and wherever it wants.

While adding some flair with not-so-quietly or conveniently placing messages up front and centre where they can’t be missed.

Like causing me to ditch the Letter underway to write this.

Needless to say, they have not gone unnoticed.

Stop ignoring what I’ve been putting off.

Stop avoiding what I know I need to be doing.

I don’t know the whole picture.

But I know enough to take tiny steps.

Heart is in no way whatsoever going to rest – or let me forget – until I do.

Well then, it’s settled.

I give.

Heart is not going to lose out on this one.

Mind can give up now, or put up the good fight and lose later.

2018 is going to be the year of all things more cats.

What exactly that will look like isn’t important.

Making time each day to find out where it leads is.

That’s all I can say right now because that’s all I know right now.

There’s already relief from the poking.

But Heart is poised right there, waiting to lean in again should I need reminding.

And might as well admit it now – I will.

Onwards we go.

[We now return you to the regular programming schedule.]

Guess I’ll tell you about the report next week.

Is there anything you’ve been avoiding or ignoring that won’t accept being ignored any longer?
